John, a carpenter, was building crates his church was sending to an orphanage in China. On his way home, he realized his glasses must have fallen into the crates. “It’s not fair,” he told God in frustration.
Several months later, the director of the orphanage visited John’s church. He thanked them for their support. But then he thanked them for the glasses. Just before the crates arrived, the Communists had come through and destroyed his glasses. He said, “Even if I had the money, there was no way of replacing them. I couldn’t see and I had headaches every day. Then the crates arrived with glasses on top. They were perfect, as if they were custom made”
The people listened, happy for the glasses. But confused, because they didn’t know they had sent them, except for John, realized an ordinary carpenter had been used by the Master Carpenter in an extraordinary way.
